Lucerne, March 2014. The Swiss national football team is heading for the World Cup in Brazil equipped with a special edition of the Patravi ScubaTec from Lucerne watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer.

In summer 2014, when football’s 20th World Cup kicks off in Brazil, the eyes of the world will be on one thing: the beautiful game. And the whole of Switzerland will be waiting with bated breath to see how the national team performs this time round. After coming through the qualifiers with four wins and a draw, the team could be in for an exciting competition. And, especially for the World Cup, Carl F. Bucherer has created a timepiece that underpins the strength of the Swiss national team and reflects its enormous commitment.

The partnership between the Swiss National Football Association and Carl F. Bucherer is also an expression of the close links between the Lucerne-based watch manufacturer and its homeland. It shows that the two partners have values in common: resolve, tradition, a visionary spirit and charisma – all characteristics that are integral to this unique new model. For the special edition of the Patravi ScubaTec bears the colors of the Swiss Football Association. With red highlights on a black ground, the striking timepiece was designed to be a source of inspiration to the team and its coaches throughout the competition. “This special version of the Patravi ScubaTec has its origins in the passion and enthusiasm that drive athletes to outstanding performance. It reflects strength of will, and we believe it will motivate the Swiss team to stick to the successful course it has embarked upon with character and determination,” is how Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, describes the idea behind the special edition. The exclusive watches will be presented to the team at the end of May in Weggis, Central Switzerland, when the approximately 40-strong delegation of players, coaches and staff members gather to complete the Swiss side of their preparations for the World Cup.
