History

CARL FRIEDRICH BUCHERER

The history and development of the Lucerne-based watch brand is closely linked to the person of Carl Friedrich Bucherer. A visionary who created timepieces that moved with the times, in the truest sense, always combining extravagance and aesthetic appeal in extraordinary ways. In 1888, Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened a jewelry and watch shop in Lucerne, and his name rapidly became a synonym for quality and originality. His two sons were destined from the cradle to follow him into the profession: one learned to become a watchmaker while the other trained as a goldsmith. Today, the combination of these two artistic skills is still reflected in the perfect form of watches. The surprising marriage of jeweler skills and watchmaker expertise is what made Carl F. Bucherer’s creations unique from the beginning. The authenticity and international reputation of our brand is deeply rooted in our Swiss heritage. From our workshops in Switzerland, we have united watchmakers and artisans under the same roof, blending the art of jewelry-making with exquisite watchmaking expertise. We create distinctive timepieces for contemporary life-exploring generations in search of independence and mindful journeys.

EXPLORING TIME

EXPLORING TIME

TIME IS A JOURNEY

A journey that’s not about a specific place or a particular destination, but the experience of exploration itself. Of making memories to treasure and contemplating adventures yet to come. It’s a never-ending quest that always leads to new discoveries. This open-minded spirit has driven us from the very beginning.Ever since Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened his first store in 1888, we’ve preserved his approach to life: proudly Swiss, but with a global outlook on the world and a hunger to experience the best of it. More than 130 years later, we’re profoundly respectful of our long history, of our lineage, of the intricate skills and craftsmanship that are passed down from one generation to the next. But we’ve never stopped evolving or responding to the changing times. We’ve kept up to date with fashion and technology, culture and attitudes, with a passion that keeps the door open to tomorrow. As our journey continues, we have come to represent a critical combination: we are both guardians of tradition and pioneering visionaries. We are Carl F. Bucherer and CFB – and there’s no contradiction. It’s what makes our brand of Swiss watchmaking so special, and ensures the path we follow will never end.
